monk111: (Cats)
Not a bad night's sleep. I woke up an hour earlier than I would've wanted; I was nervous about the cats. As it turned out, I didn't need to keep them inside. That rain never did transpire beyond that little bit of gustiness and drizzle.

Apparently I lost another friend. Not someone I have friended. Probably one of those Russian serial adders. I guess he wasn't a big fan of Anne Bradstreet.

nostalgia

In Greek, nostalgia literally means ‘the pain of an old wound.’

I know I've heard this before, but I keep forgetting it, and I shouldn't.

Having finished my blogging rounds early, I was restless and curious enough to check both Sugar's twitter and blog, and there is nothing remotely interesting to me.

Am I finally over it, or is that she has retreated more fully from the personal, going to more of a completely news thing, loaded with highly emotional verbiage, or else she's talking about hockey with her journalist buddies?

In the way of e-life, all I have these days is Miss Next talking to me about cooking.

Since I was so ahead of the game this morning, I took care of the kitty litter box before breakfast, while it was still quite cool, with Pop still secluded in his room, and now I won't have to crowd my day to take care of that chore.

When was the last time we refreshed the litter box? Two months? Three? That long drought gave it scarce use. But I'm going to have to put kitty litter on the grocery list, and I imagine it will become more routine again.

Slogging through Emily Dickinson. As with Walt Whitman, I just don't get the literary thrill. It's all I can do to scrounge up a riff or two that may be worth blogging, to say we have touched upon the great names.

I'm afraid that Hidoko Panda chick deleted her Tumblr, too. I hope it isn't a suicide.

blurting

I'm blurting less today. I don't feel too bad about that, though. Twenty a day seems a little obsessive. I imagine that as few as six a day would still do a nice job of conveying the particular flavor and mood of the day.

Pop is a little excited by the water bill. I guess that is why he barged into the room, but seeing that I was taking a nap (or trying to take a nap), he scooted back out, kindly enough.

The bill topped $90, almost twenty more than the month before. I reminded him that there was a headline in his paper about rates jumping 15%. I don't know how he would miss something like that. He probably just needed to let some stress out, and I'm a good release valve, I guess: it's my fault, I'm the problem.

*******

It occurs to me that the additional watering of the elephant ears probably also counted for an extra bump in the bill.

It's an interesting question: how much money would be saved if we never watered the elephant ears? I think we are talking about a significant amount.

Though, it is only July and August that really kills, when we need to throw in a third watering.

Personally, I have grown attached to the ears, but I wouldn't mind terribly if we lost them. I'm not going to put forward the suggestion, though.

Miss Next

Over the past couple of days I have noted how Miss Next has been holding a dialogue on cooking with me, and I have written that it is a sort of misfiring.

I think I understand what this is about. Today she has posted about being busy drafting a contract for a singer, and being busy setting up her music agency business. She is doubtlessly preoccuppied, as well as heavily occuppied, with this, and is only trying to maintain an appearance of social obligations, and I guess that cooking is an easy topic.

Very well.

I'm still disappointed that I cannot have some good e-buddies, people who could even enjoy some camaraderie over my porn blog.

A few minutes after five, I was surprised that I was feeling so hungry. Then I remembered that I skipped dessert at lunch with the plan to have an afternoon dish of chocolate ice cream. It was a little late, but I followed through.

It looks like an undesirable woman has a serious envy problem.

The Republican debate on Fox I have playing in the background. I probably shouldn't. I know what they have to say, and it is depressing. I'm surprised that Google is sponsoring it with Fox, but, then, Fox is the big ratings leader, so it presumably pays well.

My chest

My chest is burning and aching again. Because of the Mexican TV dinner?

Lord, what can I eat?

I think I'm going to need a practical answer to that question before long.
