Amazing. When I get up in the mornnig, Father is playing his video game in the big room. Did he go to bed at all? Probably, but only for a little while, at best.

"Books are like mirrors: if a fool looks in, you cannot expect a genius to look out."

-- J. K. Rowling

I wondered where this came from. I thought the quote had too much snap for "Harry Potter", and so I googled it, and I think I may have found the original source.

"A book is a mirror: if an ape looks into it an apostle is hardly likely to look out. We have no words for speaking of wisdom to the stupid. He who understands the wise is wise already."

-- Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (July 1, 1742 – February 24, 1799)

Even though it is still a bit nippy, with the indoor temperature a notch below seventy, I shut off the heater and opened the window, to let the cats appreciate the fresh air, as I was moved seeing them stare so fixedly through the window.

Maybe it was a mistake, as that free air seemed to rouse them into full rebellion. It is a very sunny day, and they cannot begin to conceive why they should still be inside the house.

I am thinking that I will likely let them go tomorrow. Now if only they can give me a little more patience!

Even though I would be willing to bet money that the Plath journals are not going to be making it in, ever, I still find myself anxiously awaiting the mailman, hoping that I am wrong.

The book made it in! It came with a nice card, too. I wish it were practical for me to return the favor. I think it will make for good book-blogging, as a rich source for quotes of the seeking spirit.

The laptop does play DVDs, and I do love the coziness of it. The disk tray is a bit primitive and rough, but I don't suppose it makes sense to let my "Black Scorpion" disks sit pretty in the closet, never touched.

Whoa! Logging into LJ this evening, I see that the number of new posts in the last 24 hours fell to 87,000. Mind you, that is after the correction on account of those DDoS attacks. LJ is positively dying. I don't want to leave LJ, but, then, I didn't want to leave Blurty either.

I don't know. I'm not looking to leave, but I am also braced to see more chunks of the LJ firmament falling around me.
