After Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are set on the trail of Hamlet, the court still has some more business to conduct before Polonius can relate his news about Ophelia and the overwrought prince. The ambassadors are returned from Claudius’s mission to the “impotent and bed-rid” king of Norway to petition that he halt the young and rambunctious Fortinbras in his military ambitions against Denmark.

LORD POLONIUS

The ambassadors from Norway, my good lord,
Are joyfully return'd.

KING CLAUDIUS

Thou still hast been the father of good news.

LORD POLONIUS

Have I, my lord? I assure my good liege,
I hold my duty, as I hold my soul,
Both to my God and to my gracious king:
And I do think, or else this brain of mine
Hunts not the trail of policy so sure
As it hath used to do, that I have found
The very cause of Hamlet's lunacy.

The mud is softer than I would like, but seeing how we are likely to get only more rainfall throughout the weekend and into next week, I thought this might be our best chance for the cats to get some fresh air and stretch out, at least for a few hours. It's a very brief reprieve, but it has to be better than nothing. As it is, I think I am going to have some muddy floors to wipe up.

I wonder what's the story. First, Ash came back inside in the first ten minutes and had no interest in going back out. Then, Coco wanted in within half an hour, and she is happy to stay inside. Finally, Sammy wants back inside within two hours, and he is not wailing to be let back out.

I'm not complaining. I love it. But seeing how much they whine and cry to be let out, I don't get it.

In any case, I don't intend to let them back out now. Lorie came, and she and Pop have left, and I don't care for any of the cats to be stranded outside in the middle of a rain with Lorie and Pop in the kitchen drinking and chatting and watching TV.

All three cats are lying beside each other on the ottoman, with Sammy apparently content to take in outdoor life through the window. Hey, I like this myself. Though, I don't doubt Sammy will be crying tonight, when I am desperately trying to get some sleep.

Watching the second episode of "Sopranos", and watching the first episodes of "The Shield", it feels a little like I have shed a decade and it is ten years ago.
