monk111: (Effulgent Days)
A new way of breaking up my sleep. You know how sometimes the dogs will be barking all night, giving the neighborhood a free, all-night concert. Last night, the cats showed they could do it, too.

I am doubtful that it is my cats, but I am not sure. It's a constant screaming cry. It does remind me of Sammy, but it is much louder, as if scaled for the outdoors.

Usually, the first guess is that it is a cat in heat, but this sounded different from the primeval squawk that I usually associate with that phenomenon. I am hoping that this is what it was, because then it would be assuredly a temporary affair.

I can only hope this is not a new routine.

It is like there is a conspiracy to deny me a whole hour of continuous, solid sleep.

"You couldn't leave me a comment?"

Miss Stay. She did answer a comment I left in her journal, but could not be moved to drop me a word in my journal. With the posts I make these days, just so many little fun ones, it seems to me that you have to willfully ignore me not to comment, that you purposely want to give me the cold shoulder. For instance, just last night, I put up a post on the growing popularity of Tumblr and the dying of LiveJournal, and seeing how she is on Tumblr, surely it would have been easy for her to make nice with me. But I get nothing.

Got my haircut! It feel great to have that done. Nine months of freedom from hair hassles.

The Kentucky Fried Chicken was great, too.

And I just ordered Chuck 3. I felt nervous about it. I have been off that Chuck bandwagon for a while now, and I have my doubts about where the show is going. However, I know how much I loved the first two seasons, and I have given it a go. I should get it this Friday.

After that Kentucky Fried Chicken lunch, I could not have a chicken TV dinner for dinner, and Swanson turkey meat would be insufferable. Fortunately Pop had an early dinner, so I was able to whip up a hamburger patty and use up the remainder of my mashed potatoes along with some ranch style beans. Not bad. We can get back on the Swanson routine tomorrow.

Finished "Strange Flesh". Although I do not regret my reading, the ending was very disappointing, but, then, in wrapping up his plot, in general, it's pop-fiction flimsiness was already wearing thin.

Again, it was still a thrill, but I am sorry that it fell apart as badly as it did.

I have now ordered Mann's "Death in Venice and other Stories". On Kindle. I was wary, as I always seem to be when clicking 'buy', especially today, perhaps because I have been out of practice. But I was also worried that it might be too heavy instead of fun. However, I don't have a better book in mind, and I should show some faith after "Magic Mountain".
