monk111: (Noir Detective)
Coco at my feet beneath me computer desk. Priceless.

"She didn't stay in your room all night, did she?"

No, no, she went outside as usual. But it's just us this morning, again.

Whew, they are finally leaving, for good. Vic had caught me in the hallway with a friendly goodbye, "until next time." I like the optimistic thought. I hope we see another good visit next year. Oh, lord, let this life go on for another good few years, if not twenty or thirty.

"Why not pray for more? Like a full, normal life - friends, wife, a real career with money and everything."

There doesn't seem much point in getting greedy. I will be happy if I can just hold on to what I got.

Setting up the laptop back in the big room, I appreciate that this was one change in the routine I rather appreciated. It was great having the laptop in my room, and it certainly took a pounding over these two weeks, as I did not use Pop's computer even once, except to order the last season of "Chuck". Of course, if it were up to me, I would still bring the laptop to the big room every day, but such is the delicious luxury of having a laptop, that ready portability. Not that it matters very much. We are wonderfully well-off when it comes to computers and the Internet.

Pop returns home muttering to himself, "Another year, another year." I guess he is thinking along the same lines that I am. Though, I suppose the year will be a lot longer for him. I am pretty sure that he is at his happiest when he and Vic are together - old brothers sharing old age and olden days.

After dinner, and we are back on Pop's computer, getting back into the old routine.

Pop got a new clock, one that has a Shiner Bock for its face, mimicking a grandfather clock with its swinging pendulum thing, and I am debating which is louder: this one or the old clock he had in his office. It's a tough call. Pop's seems to like a lot of noise around him. Maybe it makes up for the emptiness in his head.

Okay, I've decided. This one is louder. Fuck!

I've taken it down. Oh, the wonderful peace! I'll put it back up when I am done for the night. Though, I don't expect this to go without some drama sometime.
