monk111: (Rainy)
Essentially a five o'clock morning. I awoke with a coughing fit a little before five, and then there was no falling asleep, tossing in turning for almost an hour before giving up. At least I got in a nice little reading session with Caro and LBJ.

Pop is stressed out over the grocery list. Too many new innovations, I guess, especially for the short list. But it is a three-weeker. There's the new cereal, and I get the suspicion that he's just going to say that they don't have it. The pizza and the pecans may come through. We'll see.
monk111: (Primal Hunger)
A few minutes till one and Pop is still a no-show. I'm hungry!
monk111: (Sugar Hips)
Just as Pop finished unloading the groceries, it started to rain. A real rain lasting over an hour, so far. Not a storm, but more than a shower. Let me put it this way: I won't be worrying about watering the lawn or the trees on Tuesday.

As for the groceries, the cereal wasn't a problem. Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats, Strawberry Delight. It was on sale. Pop got two boxes. I hope I like them, and that they are indeed another notch up on the healthy-eating scale.

The pecans were a bust, though. He called to inform me that they were twelve dollars for sixteen ounces, and I told him to drop them from the list. I hope they are just off-season. It is a tasty nut, but we cannot afford caviar. I'm glad Pop didn't just come home and tell me that the Commissary didn't have any.

It's a lot nicer coming to Pop's computer in the evening.

"That laptop virus hasn't gone away?"

Nope. I've been hoping that our big investment in Norton might come through, but it hasn't yet, and I am starting to feel skeptical.

If this virus had hit us during Vic's visit, I would have gone to Pop's computer. It's become more than a little annoying, as the browser now freezes more regularly, on top of the redirections.

"Assuming the problems are related."

Of course. If the laptop were over a couple of years old, I might feel better about it, thinking that we would be due for a new one - in the ball park. But we are only hitting our one-year anniversary. It shouldn't be too quirky yet.

"You're not looking too happy about being at Pop's computer."

I forgot about that damn Shiner clock. I've grown more averse to creating drama and am reluctant to take it down, especially since I know it's not really that loud, that it's more about me, what Mother would mock as my Howard Hughesness.
