I forgot the bread. Damn it!

I was halfway down the street and felt some temptation to return and get it, but I let the idea pass me by. The ducks have been pretty hungry lately too.

I suppose I rushed myself this morning. I was worried that Pop and Walker might get up early and deny me my walk.

I was also a little sluggish. They were not terribly noisy. No two a.m. party breakast in the kitchen. I think it is the use of the air-conditioner overnight that is blowing my sleep. It really is too cold to use all night.

Or it could just be me, because a good sleep has not been a part of my regular life for sometime now.

Kerouac

I have felt an urge to take on Kerouac's "On the Road", but I'm not sure if that's ever going to happen. In case it does, this critical review of the writer may come in handy.

I should probably take care of my bathtub now, but it is highly gratifying to sit back in the recliner and dip into my page-turner. With the house to myself and the air-conditioner purring sweetly.

Newton Thornburg's "A Man's Game" (1996). A rapey crime thriller. An obscure author who I discovered when I enjoyed the movie "Beautiful Kate", which was adapted from his novel. Mr. Thornburg seems to have a little fetish for incest, which played in the movie and in my page-turner. And Amazon was selling the hardcover for a couple of bucks. Thornburg is proving to be a happy discovery.
