slept straight for five hours
Nov. 8th, 2012 08:33 amI fell asleep at about ten-thirty last night, and for the first time in ages, I slept straight for five hours. This is great for me, but it is tough on the cats, now that I am keeping their food inside the house. All three were there on the patio and eager to come inside, no doubt feeling rather betrayed.
As one could expect, I did not enjoy such good luck in falling back asleep. I read a little more James Bond, which I am finding to be quite fun, and ended up letting the cats back in an hour later, for which they were obviously still grateful, as I suspect it was this second raid on the plate that secured them for what remained of the night. As for myself, I was still reduced to mostly tossing and turning, feeling frustrated and benumbed, but it was not a total loss. I may have gotten in an extra hour or so of needful sleep.

Talk about being angry over the election! I haven't finished listening to this myself, but I wanted to share this before it gets deleted.

So, that is Scarlett Johansson. I saw this picture earlier, but no name was attached to it. I thought it was some random aimless teen showing off her bad taste in tattoos. But it is the beauty queen. The power of make-up, eh?
Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger, GQ magazine, Australia (2003)
Ledger died on 22 January 2008 from an accidental "toxic combination of prescription drugs". A few months before his death, Ledger had finished filming his penultimate performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight. His death occurred during editing of the film and cast a shadow over the subsequent promotion of the $180 million production.[10] Ledger received numerous accolades for his critically acclaimed performance in the film, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, a Best Actor International Award at the 2008 Australian Film Institute Awards, for which he became the first actor to win an award posthumously,[11] the 2008 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor, the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor[12] and the 2009 BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor.[4] At the time of his death, he had completed about half of his final film[13] performing the role of Tony in Terry Gilliam's film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

1960 Nixon vs. Kennedy
Nov. 8th, 2012 02:09 pmI long accepted the history that Nixon was robbed of the 1960 election, even the idea that he refuse to contest the vote because he did not want to harm the country. After all, what was LJB for? Maybe I swallowed too quickly, trying to see some possible good in the Republicans, trying to balance the story a little between the two parties. Maybe the election was not stolen, and the Nixon people definitely contested the results. But perhaps Nixon still believed firmly that he was cheated, and maybe this did open the way to Watergate.

afternoon walk
Nov. 8th, 2012 07:31 pmAt about ten minutes till four, I began to think that I could use a walk, especially since Pop was probably going to take over the big room soon, and I wouldn't be able to go on walk tomorrow, not with Pop in Shiner. So, I went. I needed some time away from the Internet and the constant scrolling and copying and pasting. I needed some quality time with my book, just reading and thinking.
I also learned the significance of Daylight Saving Time. It may be sunny an hour earlier in the morning, but it also gets darker an hour earlier. It did not hurt me this time, but I also rushed my walk. In the future, until Spring, if I am going to go on an afternoon walk, I need to leave by three-thirty, which kind of takes away much of the convenience of an afternoon walk, being much too early for me, but we have to take the world as we find it.

whether to open another blog
Nov. 8th, 2012 09:18 pmI was thinking long and hard today about whether to open another blog and tell my tale anew. While I was on my walk this afternoon, I was strongly leaning in favor of the idea, However, as the evening wanes, I cannot see the point of spending much time on writing about my life. If anything, I should be eager to ignore it and pretend it never happened. And I just don't really have anything to say, period. So, it is back to your regularly scheduled programming!
