“I couldn’t live where there were no trees— something vital in me would starve.”

It has been a long, long time since we have used anything from Thomas Friedman. Today he takes his own shot at what looks like a Republican crack-up in his column titled "Send in the Clowns".

I felt moved to check my Yahoo mail, and was surprised to learn that it has been a whole year since I received any messaages there.

Ah, Yahoo was my first big e-mail account since daring to break away from the main home e-mail account of Pop's. I remember that it took me a while to steel my nerve to open the account, but I wanted to enjoy greater privacy with my Blurty friends. And now it is dead.

Yes, Tagg Romney told the Boston Globe that Mitt never wanted to president. He only ran for 6 years because he couldn’t find anyone as perfect as Himself to run. The brutal Republican primaries notwithstanding, we are to believe Romney never wanted it. It was, we’re told, Romney’s love of God and country that made him run.

“He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life. He had no desire to . . . run,” said Tagg, who worked with his mother, Ann, to persuade his father to seek the presidency. “If he could have found someone else to take his place . . . he would have been ecstatic to step aside. He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them, but he has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention.”

That Romney is such a class act. What if he won?! America, we dodged a bullet, though the Republicans are still shooting away.

It isn't just Hollywood, baby.

While Pop is away and I am going to and fro, Lorie talks to me and urges me to watch out for Pop, speaking in particular of his diabetes. After checking online, to be sure, I come back to her and point out that all this boozing doesn't help his condition. She just urges me again to watch him. As if watching him can do any good.

Both the Cowboys and the Spurs play today. The joy!

At least the day is nice enough that the cats can stay outside.

Goodbye
No use leading with our chins
This is where our story ends
Never lovers, ever friends

Goodbye
Let our hearts call it a day
But before you walk away
I sincerely want to say

I wish you bluebirds in the spring
To give your heart a song to sing
And then a kiss
But more than this
I wish you love
And in July a lemonade
To cool you in some leafy glade
I wish you health
And more than wealth
I wish you love

My breaking heart and I agree
That you and I could never be
So with my best
My very best
I set you free

I wish you shelter from the storm
A cozy fire to keep you warm
But most of all
When snowflakes fall
I wish you love
