Did I really sleep for seven hours straight?? Zero bathroom runs? When I woke up, I realized that I had failed to open my window for the night, with the air-conditioner off, and then I realized what I had accomplished. I did not know I was that tired. I did put in a morning mow yesterday, and I was unable to take a nap, but... WOW! I never thought this would happen again. It is so nice to know that it still can happen. It feels really good. I feel so rested.

It is becoming a real ‘who’s who’ and ‘meet and greet’ at the Ministry of Love. Now Winston runs into his old neighbor Mr. Parsons, the one with the rambunctious and over-eager kiddies, children who would have made great candidates for Hitler’s super youth.

Johnny Depp is out selling his new movie, "The Lone Ranger". He is taking a lot of heat from the politically correct crowd for his taking on the Native American role of Tonto. He is fifty years old, and is contemplating retirement and the meaning of life.

And then there's the voice Depp hears in his head sometimes – all the time, really. It's Marlon Brando's growl, and this is what it says: "Fuck it. Fuck it. You don't need this shit. Fuck it." Depp laughs hard relating this, as if Brando is yelling it in his ear. "Marlon got to a point in his life where he just said, 'I don't care,' " says Depp, smiling like a fugitive with road's end in sight at last. "And that must be some species of nirvana. It has to be. It's freedom."

Miley Cyrus has revealed that she feels "disconnected" from her musical past.

The singer admitted that she finds it "irritating" that people can listen to her previous albums - which includes five LPs from her Disney series Hannah Montana - on iTunes.

"Right now, when people go to iTunes and listen to my old music, it's so irritating to me because I can't just erase that stuff and start over," she told Billboard.

"My last record [2009's Can't Be Tamed] I feel so disconnected from - I was 16 or 17 when I made it. When you're in your 20s, you just don't really know that person anymore."

Discussing her new single 'We Can't Stop', she explained: "I didn't make this song for the critics, but for the people living it.

"I'm 20 years old and I want to talk to the people that are up all night with their friends. It's based on a true story of a crazy night I had. When I heard the song for the first time, it captured exactly what I was living."

I have mixed feelings about this new direction. I like this number a bit, but I also miss her doing something that better showcases her vocals and pure singing. All these bells and whistles and electronic tricks don't really work for me. But I am not the crowd she is selling to.

James Gandolfini died today of a heart attack at 51 years of age. The "Sopranos" guy. I was mostly struck by the fact that we are contemporaries, that he was only a few years older than me. But this only reminds me that I feel like a child still, like I might still be 17 and anxious about graduating from high school and starting my life, when, in fact, I am an old dude whose teeth are starting to rot.

One cannot get any details of the death, save that he was in Rome for some sort of actors' thingy, and I wonder if he suffered his heart attack while he was giving his all to some little, hot-to-trot Italian cutie, and ended up giving up more than he wanted.
