I woke up at four for a bathroom run. When I open the bedroom window to relieve the mugginess of the closed air, I hear the distinct plop-plop of rain falling on the elephant ears. I rush to check on the cats, and I see that Pop is only just now getting ready to go to bed. He confirms that it has been only a very light rain, and I see that it is not raining now. I see Ash lying on the patio, not appearing especially interested in coming inside, and I am content to let the cats stay outside another few hours. However, I then see Coco and she is interested in coming inside, and with her, Coco also engenders an enthusiasm. I would think they must be hungry, as these are still hundred-degree days and I am keeping them on starvation rations to get them to come inside in the morning.
Alas, this is the end of sleep for me. I had close to a good five hours of solid sleep, so I am not going to complain. Within the hour, when I have given up on the hope of sleep, I see Sammy on the patio, whining and surprisingly eager to come inside. Even on starvation rations, I usually have to go outside and Grab Sammy, but at least he does not put up much of a fight, only putting up a show of reluctance as if for the sake of his pride. I only have to open the door this morning and Sammy comes in this morning on his own power. So, we are all in and it is an early start to the day. I am getting ready to break out those manufactured Baird's Donuts that we got yesterday with the groceries.
