“I am part man, and I notice women’s breasts and thighs with the calculation of a man choosing a mistress … but that is the artist and the analytical attitude toward the female body … for I am more a woman; even as I long for full breasts and a beautiful body, so do I abhor the sensuousness which they bring … I desire the things which will destroy me in the end.”

-- Sylvia Plath, the Journals, the college years

That can sound prophetic. It may be fair to say that she got tangled up in the affairs of the heart and genitals. Passion was perhaps both her artist’s power and her life’s undoing.

LiveJournal is fucked again. It has been running slow for some time, and today it looks like it wants to die again. And I have to hate myself for still being around to notice it.

But it's not like Facebook or Twitter can give me what I need. I am a serious journal/diary person. If Dreamwidth goes south, I don't know what I would do.

I forgot to mention that Coco made it in last night at around eight. It was dark, and it had started to rain a bit. I was worried. Maybe we were lucky that it was only another one of those three-minute drizzles, not even a proper shower.

I am touched that Coco is moved to stay in today, as she lies on the couch beside me, as though yesterday might have been a bit traumatic for her. Ash and Sammy are outside. I am letting the cats have that option again.

Literotica

Looking up my Blurty entries to do some work on my Three Journal, I came across a post in which I linked to a literotica story. I click it and found that the site is still running. I ended up losing a good part of the morning there. It looks like they loosened up on the rape stories again. So, it is worth a check. I laughed when I saw that they have not changed the home page over these ten years. In fact, they even still link to Blurty, which is how I discovered the blogging site in the first place. I still think of it as one of the luckiest breaks in my life.

It has been a few months since I have had ice cream sandwiches. Yesterday I went with Pop to fill up our water-cooler jugs, and I intended to buy a box. The temperature was still close to a hundred degrees, but it would be a quick trip home, and a much short distance home. However, the convenience store does not sell them. Pop took it as a prompt, though, and he got some at HEB. It is a perfect little bite of something sweet. On the box, it says that each sandwich is only 100 calories. I find that hard to believe, but I am happy to think it.

"Does it really matter to you? Whether it is a hundred calories or three hundred calories?"

No, but I am more likely to go ahead and have two at a time now.

At the Constitutional Convention, the delegates had decided to create a federal district, ten miles square, in an unspecified location. This decision generate melodramatic speculation. Some people found the idea of a separate capital fraught with danger, fearing a privileged enclave. Governor George Clinton envisioned the ten-mile square as the scene of a presidential “court” disfigured by royal trappings and marked by “ambition with idleness, baseness with pride, the thirst of riches without labor … flattery … treason … perfidy, but above all the perpetual ridicule of virtue.”

We have another one of those Real Doll stories, pursing the question whether a man and his doll can find true love. The guy is called Davecat. I'm thinking it's a nick name. He was in a documentary titled "Guys and Dolls" about this fairly new fetish. This excerpt is from an interview.
