monk111: (Cats)
Checking the patio first thing in the morning, I am a little shocked to see the food plate empty. I had refilled it at about two in the morning, and that was because I noticed that it was already empty at only a little after midnight. We must have visitors. I have suspected this for over a week, but have not seen anything. I don’t think they are cats, because I am pretty sure I would see them during the day sometime. I am afraid it is Ratso, or his kind. I would never see Ratso in the backyard during the day - very nocturnal, apparently. But I don’t know.

After clearing my breakfast mess, I notice the time on the clock: seven-forty-five. What? I did not get that early a jump on the day. Then it occurs to me: maybe it’s ‘fall back’ day. I check the time on the TV: we did lose an hour. I’m not kicking myself hard over not getting an extra hour of sleep, because I had lingered in bed this morning long enough. I was simply ready to get up. But I don’t like being rudely surprised like this. This is what I get for not being faithful to my pin-up calendar, ever since if fell from my door and I was unable to hang it back up. It has been a lifetime’s bad habit of mine to play with time too casually, but I cannot feel too bad, since there was never much that I could do with my time anyway.
