I cannot recall why, but I googled up our old blogging pal, Pablo Bastard. I half-expected that he dropped out of the blogging game, perhaps seeing it as a waste of his time (anent his Ayn Rand ‘one must maximize one’s time and profit’ mentality), but instead, he is actually blogging regularly now. Judging by the stats he has on his page, I suppose he is actually drawing enough traffic that it seems worthwhile to him. No one comments, though, but I guess you have to go on Twitter and Facebook to get that kind of common back-and-forth exchange with others nowadays. I wonder if he has a Twitter or a Facebook. Does he conform to that call of the masses?

I am a little sorry to see that he remains on his ultra-libertarian kick. After this many years, I guess you cannot really call it just a ‘kick’. I guess he has found his ideological home. He is a survivalist against a corrupt and increasingly wicked federal government. It’s not that I think he is totally wrong. It’s just not something I can identify with, but then I am a passive, suicidal victim. I just go with the punches and let life roll over me, until there is no more life left in me, which I suppose is something that he would not care to identify with.

I don’t believe myself sometimes. I decided to post a blog entry of his at PolitiCartoons, about him shrugging the ACA (or Obamacare so-called). I dropped him a comment with the link. I have no idea what will come of it. Maybe nothing.

Freezing

Pop said that it was supposed to get very cold, and he is right. The temperature is expected to drop into the thirties overnight. I will probably have to inaugurate the heater. There is an issue about the cats. The temperature is not expected to drop those freezing depths until four and five in the morning: should I keep them in overnight? Or should I let them be and merely look to see if they want to come inside in the early morning? Will I get up for a bathroom run at four or five? If they did not hate being indoors, this would not be an issue: we would simply play it safe. But they do hate being kept inside overnight, and they usually punish us if we do keep them in. I don’t know what to do. I will play it by ear tonight.

Shit, it just occurred to me! Am I going to want to sleep in the big room on all the freezing winter nights in order to keep the cats calm? I don’t like the idea of bringing Big Blue, my winter blanket, to the big room, subjecting it to cat hair and parasites. And although this is south Texas, we do have quite a few of these chilling nights. Such nights usually make for my best sleep, too. I lose that solid sleep with the cats inside the house. Well, the things I do for love! Even one-sided love.

When Pop returns and I step out to help him unload, I feel how it is already quite cold, and I remember, “Shit!” I should put on the faucet protectors. I better do that now, before it gets dark.
