monk111: (Little Bear)
I still have to work my mind to accept the idea that I have the house to myself and am perfectly free for an extra day this weekend. Kay is apparently big on Christmas and church, and I think Pop is with her this Sunday to see a special choir service. He should be back tomorrow on Monday. I can slow it down and take it easy. Merry christmas to me!

“I will not be a common man. I will stir the smooth sands of monotony. I do not crave security. I wish to hazard my soul to opportunity.”

-- Peter O'Toole

Peter O'Toole was eighteen years old when he wrote that piece of dramatic bravado in his notebook, when he was still only thinking about a career as an actor. A lot of us have such ambitious thoughts in our youth, but for very few of us is it anything more than an idle notion of a dreamy summer afternoon.
monk111: (Effulgent Days)
I knocked out that mowing. I kind of hate using one of my free, home-alone days for that chore, but I was having one of those mornings in which I seriously wonder why I am taking up space on the planet, as what I am doing with my life seems worse than pointless. I was not enjoying my book, and my writing feels like a bad joke these days. It was a good time to clear my head with some honest work.
