Grocery Day

Yesterday got away from me. Grocery days are generally off-routine days, but this one really did crowd out everything except my light reading.

It was a distinct grocery day, different from the rest. We probably had more items than we ever had before, with Pop going a little crazy with the paper plates and plastic cups. What really set the day off, though, was when we got out of the commissary loaded with goods. Pop says the car is parked in the ‘H’ aisle. It’s all the way at the end of the parking lot. That wasn’t so bad in itself. The problem is that the car wasn’t there. Pop starts holding up his keys to beep the car, walking through the parking lot, trying to follow the beep, with the old black guy rolling one cart behind us. This would not have been so bad in February, but at the end of May on a sunny day, it’s not a good time to be taking our food on a leisurely stroll. In all fairness, I am pretty sure that the search for the car was resolved in under ten minutes, if barely, but I think this is one grocery day that will live in memory.

Although this didn’t take much extra time, I think it led me to take a more laidback attitude to the rest of the day.

"Rape Joke"

Sully posted that Patricia Lockwood is heralded as "The Poet Laureate of Twitter", a dubious honor, I imagine, but distinctive. We learn that she also published a particularly well-received poem she calls "Rape Joke", sort of a prose-poem.
