Polonius has been buried hugger-mugger, as if more in shame than mourning. Hamlet has been spirited away to England. Gertrude has only freshly been made aware of the dark origins of Claudius’s empowerment. Now it seems that Ophelia has become morbidly distraught in the loss of a dear father, perhaps out of her mind, and the last thing Gertrude needs at this point is to have to deal with an hysterical young female. Funny. It was an overcast morning, and temperatures promised to stay in the low nineties, and although this obviously seemed to be part of the weather system that brought down a little shower on us yesterday, there was little chance of rain today. So, I decided to let the cats stay outside today and brought the plate of food outside to the patio. What happens? Sammy elects to come inside on his own anyway, even meowing plaintively at the door to be let in, and then proceeds to spend a quiet day in the big room with me. You have to laugh!

A Baby

I don't cry much in my old age. When I was young I was a little embarrassing in how easily my tears would come, but now it is as though my ducts have dried out. But this picture pierced a soft spot in me. It is a picture of an infant girl who died without ever making it out of the hospital. The father posted the picture to Reddit, requesting if anyone could photoshop the tubes out. The baby actually looks rather strong as though she will make it. She seems so full of intelligence and curiosity, if still weak and vulnerable. It feels unbearably sad that she was denied the opportunity to develop her potential for life. I imagine if I were her parent, I would be utterly crushed.
