I have been harder on the cats lately, unintentionally so. My biorhythms seem to have shifted. Over the past few days I have not been able to fall asleep until well about twelve-thirty. One consequence of that is that I have not been waking up at around two or three in the morning as had been my pattern, and which afforded me the opportunity to give the cats a good bite to eat in the middle of the long night. Now I just sleep through that, not waking up until after four, and I do not want to risk them not wanting to come in the house in the morning because they just recently ate, and so I just skip the feeding altogether.
I flirted with the idea of setting my alarm for three o’clock, to make sure I give the cats a chance to eat, but you know how much I need my sleep. I cannot risk waking myself up like that every night and then not being able to fall back asleep again.
