Apr. 17th, 2015 08:19 amI am keeping one of those philosophical pieces put out by the New York Times. I saw the Stanley Fish mention and got sucked in. Apparently there is a backlash against the Wittgensteinian revolution of truth/reality as being a language-borne and language-limited phenomena. The idea of external, material reality is supposedly becoming cool again.
But how can we speak meaningfully about a reality beyond our language? How can we know anything but by the way we talk about it? Who else is to judge? How else to judge? On the other hand, maybe reality drives language, creates language, move us to create language.
