“Love? What is it? Most natural painkiller what there is. Love.”
-- William S. Burroughs
These are said to be Burroughs's last words in his last journal entry. Based on what I could google, I take it that these journal entries were written at the end of his life. I cannot tell whether the mood is one of contentment and satisfaction or regret and sadness, but one would guess the latter, that Burroughs probably wished that he had more of that painkiller on hand. Don't we all?
