Wow, looking at the weather forecast, I see that we are in the jaws of summer now. It was a little late in coming, but it has arrived. Although it is an overcast, cool morning, the high is expected to reach 103 degrees, and it will be this way for the next ten days. Not a drop of rain is to be hoped for. Because of the overcast morning, I was actually checking to see if it was expected to rain today or tomorrow. The surprise is on me. And I guess I am going to have to keep up with the weekly watering for a while longer. I hope the cats are enjoying this morning, because they are about to get hammered out there. I do not even dream of being able to get them in the house.

New Movies
Aug. 6th, 2015 11:56 amReading through the times, I come across a review for a new movie titled "The Gift". I have to keep the last lines.
<<<<<<<<<<<<
“The Gift” emerges as a Hitchcockian exercise in deception that expresses a dour view of the capitalist rat race. The world it portrays is a ruthless arena of winners and losers. The victors will do anything to get ahead and, for an extra thrill, exult in torturing and stomping on the weak.
-- Stephen Holden for The New York Times

And the trailer looks promising, too. Again I find myself wishing I led a more normal life and could freely go to the movies. Though, even if I enjoyed such liberty, I have to go to the restroom too often, and you cannot pause movies playing in the theater.

Broadcast News
Aug. 6th, 2015 01:58 pmWhy would you sell anything for one-cent? I don't know what put it in my mind, but I realized that the screenplay for the old William Hurt and Holly Hunter movie "Broadcast News" might be a great read. I am not surprised that I have to resort to the secondary market from Amazon, but I am baffled why they would sell it for a penny. They say it is 'new' and 'never read'. Of course, if it comes heavily marked up, with pages folded this way and that, and with pages missing, with coffee mug stains on it, then all will become clear. Otherwise, you would think that they ought to sell it for at least a few dollars, no? Maybe it is readily available for free on the Net if you have some e-skills. It is old, and there likely is no great demand for it. Well, good for me!, because I think it is a great find, and it might well make it onto my 're-readables' shelf.
Post-LveJournal Life
Aug. 6th, 2015 08:32 pmIn my new, evolving post-LiveJournal routine, I am pleasantly surprised to see that I do not feel a real appetite to visit LJ even for a run at celebrity news and political cartoons. When I do check it out, my laptop and anti-virus software have to fight through all their malware that they try to shove down our throats, and I am confirmed in my new predilection to forget about the place altogether. It's real lonely, though. I find myself even missing old Pig Shit.
