My show blog (which nobody sees) has been running silent for a few days. Such is the consequence of my letting my book-blogging go as well as the fact that I have not been finding anything in my news sources that strike me as quote-worthy. Accordingly, I think I will start doing quick write-ups of my own on the passing world scene. You could even call them blurts. It's just that, unlike my spill journal, instead of writing on my personal life, I will blurt some news, on the world outside my home and my life with Pop and the cats.

John Boehner is resigning the speakership. The Tea Party types were happy. They do not think he is doing enough to push the hardline and blow up the government. It was apparently because of these pressures that he feels moved to get out of the game. However, the Republicans are having a tough time coming up with a replacement. They had one guy set to step up, the majority leader, but he immediately proved to have a problem working his tongue around the English language, which seems like a particularly needful skill to be the SPEAKER of the House. Worse, when he does make sense, he is indiscreet in what he says. He embarrassed the Republicans by admitting, in so many tangled words and mislaid clauses, that the Benghazi hearings are just about mucking Hillary up for the 2016 presidential election.

The Republicans are still in transition. The extremists are still shaping the party to its dark ideals - plutocratic and racist. How can the country be so ill that they can carry on? They do have the House and the Senate, and it is not exactly terrible odds that they can next take the White House. What democracy can be in this? I can understand the racism, but why bow to the rich? Maybe the rich are riding on racism to get the votes they need to be able to run their agenda.
