I'm baaack! I think I'll just do a 'loose ends' entry on my library trip, beginning it now and coming back to it throughout the afternoon.

First, the weather would pick today to drop its load of rain, on one of my infrequent library trips. It scarecely rised to the level of an annoyance though, except for that car racing through a big fat puddle and giving me a decent splash downtown. And we have needed the rain. Frankly we could use more. It wasn't that much.

Second, I turned in the two poetry books. I have put aside my course in American poetry. I have enough logs in the fire, and I'd rather work on Hamlet. I kept the Eisenhower book, which I think should keep me until I receive Blatty's "Exorcist", the special 40th anniversay edition at that.

Third, that waitress woman couldn't get my water order right, being tight with the ice, even after I corrected her. She added one more ice cube, I think. I considered withholding my dollar tip, but decided that was too petty. It was otherwise a great lunch. I wish I could have that chicken fried rice a couple of times a week.

“A wise girl kisses but doesn’t love, listens but doesn’t believe, and leaves before she is left.”

-- Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn has enjoyed another surge of buzz in the news lately, thanks to a new biopic starring Michelle Williams, and someone has coughed up some long-forgotten photos, which I am happy to keep.

Pop left promptly after I returned from my library trip, and he has not returned yet. I'm working happily away on the laptop, and when I get up, I am surprised by how solid dark the house is. It's not quite six-thirty yet. Feeling that lost hour of daylight saving time. A little spooky but cozy.

Why is the March of Dimes calling us so often?

Is it a seasonal thing? I don't remember this in years past.

Whoa, I just noticed that I have come below the 1,000 mark on Google Reader. Maybe I should slow down. I love having a bottomless treasure trove of pictures to look at.

steltz

Pop's comes into the office, where I am on his computer, and he ask me, "What is steltz?" That's how it sounded. Before trying to spell it for me, I figured out what he means. It has to do with his video games, the hunting game. He means stealth.
