monk111: (Sugar Hips)
Logging into LiveJournal this morning, I was feeling adventurous and I clicked for a couple of random journals, and one was in Asian and the other in Russian. I guess that's good for LJ. I don't think this was the case some years ago. I picked up a cute picture from the Russian journal.

Let's see if we can get something done on this nostalgic weekend, instead of letting these weekends drift off into becoming merely lazy, sleepy weekends, not that this is necessarily a bad thing.

After making yet another comment in Sarah's journal, Monk sees that one of her friends writes to her: "monkey-knight has some CREEPY interests ..." And she gives the 'thumbs down' icon.

Pi puts her arms around Monk, "Sorry, Monk."

"It's nothing new."

Daimon says, "At least it should prove interesting to see exactly how Sarah plays this."

"Yeah, real interesting," Monk says hopelessly. After a pause, Monk adds, "I'm particularly struck by her use of that very term: creepy. Did she do some good research and talk with Kelly? Did she pick it out of my Black Memorial Day entry? Did she get into contact with Kelly because I decided to open my first entry without screening that exchange? . . . Not that it matters. I shouldn't have anything to do with these kids anyway."

"Sorry, Monk."

All that stuff about Kelly and Black Memorial Day, of course, refers to the drama over Crysling and Evil Lawn Gnome.

Sarah, of course, is the pretty and hot brunette who I found when I became inspired to search Blurty through location. She's a San Antonio girl, or at least she was at the time. My bloggy friendships with Crysling and Kelly gave me an appetite to find that e-social life again, after I suddenly found myself disconnected from them.

I didn't even score a friending with Sarah. It was probably just as well. It is not like there was much of a chance that we could meet up and become even platonic friends. As a middle-age man, looking to connect with sexy twenty-something girls, I guess you could say that the 'creepy' epithet is not wildly unfair.

I was just inspired to look up Sarah's blurty to find this "creepy" comment, and it is worth getting Sarah's response:

no offense to monkey_knight, but i peeked his blurty since he's apparently been reading mine for awile now, and i'm just at a loss for words.

and nope, i don't know him yo.

*shifty-eyes X's 10*

I wish that Sarah elaborated on exactly why she was at a loss for words. Could it be because of the pornish aspects and possibly the mention of rape themes? Is it the age thing and living with Pop? Might the literary height of the writing be a factor, compared to the writing of hers and her friends anyway? Not that it really matters. Just an idle curiosity.

[I did cover Sarah's response to her friend's 'creepy' comment. I won't requote it here, but continue with the rest of the entry on this day in Blurty history.]

"So it looks like we got Sarah's decision," Monk breathes deeply.

Pi puts her arm around Monk, "I don't know. she seems rather noncommital to me. She didn't say anything definite to you."

Monk chortles, "True. She didn't tell me to fuck off. Not yet anyway. Do you really think that I should force that response!?"

Daimon snickers, "The friend again! That damn best friend!"

Monk nods, "It is true that I think things might have been fine if her friend didn't feel a need to butt in with her negativity (like Kelly)."

Pi says, "I think that there is something to that. Pretty women love attention. And your writing does intrigue. And I wouldn't be surprised if there was an element of jealousy on her friend's part, seeing that adoring attention that you were paying Sarah."

Daimon says, "That is a rather satisfying story. Do you really want to believe that? You know, you simply may be too weird! You are not normal. But, of course, there is another fantasy, isn't there Monk?" Catching Monk's sidelong glance, Daimon continues, "You're just too intelligent for these averge people, aren't you? You way out-class Blurty! I mean, by right, you are more like a high-powered lawyer, rather than like these fledgling students. The powers of your intellect are simply way beyond their meager comprehension."

Monk sighs, "In any case we are done here."

A thunderstorm broke around the fifth hour or so, and continued pouring and rumbling for over the next few hours.

Monk says, "At least, I think that this should help pull the birds through, and get this new generation off on the right wing."

Whatever might be the case on respective intellects between me and these particular Blurtians, let me be clear that I cannot even pretend that I pack more intellectual firepower than my fellow bloggers. Especially in these later LJ years, I have been quite humbled by some of the players, some of whom are real-life high-powered lawyers and the like, so that I am entirely outclassed, and I know it, and this is also why I do not participate as much in debate communities, except to drop an occasional wry comment.

In closing, I will also make clear that my main problem as regards Sarah and her clique was that I was too old and too poor as well as too ugly - my main problems in life in general. If I could have posted pictures of myself as a twenty-something hunky guy living it up in upper-middle-classdom with my upper-middle-class friends, who knows how things might have gone? We surely would have met up. We'd certainly be blogging friends, if not lovers and real-life friends. Though, if I were such, I probably would not have gotten on Blurty, and might have gone my whole life without ever hearing of the place.

What does Thomas Sowell feel that he owes Newt Gingrich? He certainly has been pushing this lame horse hard.

"Cheers"

I broke out my "Cheers" DVDs, season one, and started with the first episode. I cannot guess how many years it has been since I last watched the show. I enjoyed it, and expect to get another few seasons worth. I wonder if I should follow through on this idea and hold off on "The Shield", but I intend to get the first season of "The Shield" as soon as I can, maybe ordering it next Friday, if my Whataburger stunt yesterday has not cost me the liberty.

My show-watching strategy has changed. Instead of just focusing on two shows at a time, with the idea of getting better immersed in the shows, I'm just going to have them all going.

I actually caught some of that Tebow phenomenon, complete with Tebowing.

We were in the kitchen. Pop was finishing up dinner, and I was starting mine, and the Broncos game was on TV, in overtime even. Tebow threw a perfect pass up the middle of the field, and the receiver broke it for a touchdown.

People say he cannot pass. Bringing to mind Billy Kilmer of the Redskins back in the seventies. But Tebow threw a perfect, tight spiral. Caught the receiver in dead stride.

The fans were holding up signs. One read: BELIEVE BELIEVE BELIEVE.
