monk111: (Cats)
Such a cloudy grey sky. I pray it doesn't rain. I am set to release the cats, sometime before lunch time. I just want the morning dew to burn off. Though, make no mistake, that mud is plenty fresh. And I'm sorry to see that the new grass we put in last year, and on which I put in a good deal of effort watering, seems to be effectively gone, making for a huge muddy swath on a key pathway. Personally, I wouldn't mind a couple of months of drought about now, which would still allow us to get in some good spring rains.

We hit that e-milestone already. I had a free book in mind, and I urged Pop to have a go at it. Since he wanted to make good on his purchase, he was a gamer. And we got it in one!

They really have the technology down. We could order through our computer, and the e-book was delivered to our kindle wirelessly. And now I know why it's free. It's a porn story and all of ten pages or so. I can do much better than that on the Internet: longer, more brutal, and just as free.

I doubt I'll get any more porn stories from them, even if they are free. Well, actually, when it comes to porn stories that cost a few dollars, there may still be some promise in the kindle market, but, still, seeing how I can get it for free on the Net, why bother, right?

I may get some pop novels on the kindle. Especially since e-books tend to be significantly cheaper. I will still need my main books in my hands and in-between covers. Though, I may get a long poem on the kindle, in order to have something a little meaningful readily on hand. I have my eye on Pope's "Illiad" for only 99 cents.

I almost forgot about the grocery list. Too caught up in the Kindle Fire and the perks of Amazon Prime membership.

I did order Pope's rhyming Iliad. I had a bit of a headache getting it done. Pop was gone and I was on my own. In desperation, fiddling around with it, through trial and error, I learned that you have to click the 'sync' button. I guess Pop thought it best to keep that a secret from me.

I let the cats out around eleven, and I am happy to say that Coco and Ash have ben more content to be inside the house. Sammy, as you might expect, is another story. He stepped back in for a moment, but then bolted back out and will not be tempted back in. He even looks at me with resentment at my invitations.

Tonight should also be a good night to let them stay outside. I'm a little interested to see what Coco and Ash will do, but they are creatures of the night and the moon.

With the ambassadors’ business from Norway happily concluded, Polonius follows up on his promise to reveal Hamlet’s mystery and misery, and the old guy is practically dancing on air, as he can practically taste the meats and cakes of the marriage feast that will usher his daughter into rich royalty and even put her in line to be the future queen.

LORD POLONIUS

My liege, and madam, to expostulate
What majesty should be, what duty is,
Why day is day, night night, and time is time,
Were nothing but to waste night, day and time.
Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,
And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,
I will be brief: your noble son is mad:
Mad call I it; for, to define true madness,
What is't but to be nothing else but mad?
But let that go.

QUEEN GERTRUDE

More matter, with less art.

monk111: (Bo)
I cut the afternoon reading session short. It's shower day, and I wanted to take a shot at those bush-like weeds in the back yard. That ground is still soft after thoe rains, and the weeds, with their roots, pop out of the dirt so sweetly. I just wish we had more grass than weeds out back.
