monk111: (Cats)
A bit of drama this morning. I had to stomp another bird, my second, to death.

All three cats were waiting for me on the patio. I filled the paper plate on the table with some food, so that the cats could start eating right away, instead of waiting for me to clean the yellow plate that is still outside with them.

After I filled the plate, when I went to open the door for them, I am surprised to see that the cats are gone, and then I see that Sammy caught a bird. Even worse, he had only crippled it, so that it could not fly, and Sammy did not seem much inclined to give a quick kill, being content to nibble away at it.

What timing!

LJ is knocked offline again. Hey, it's been a while. DDoS? If not, this should be much rarer, like maybe once a year. Whatever.

If this lasts a few hours, at least we will learn what it does to pre-scheduled posts.

* * * *

LJ came back in a few hours. As good as usual. And the administrators are entirely silent.

Which suggests to me that this was not a DDoS attack, but a purely internal fuck-up. Which seems to be the new LJ reality under Russia's stewardship.

I can almost wish for my account to be wrecked and eradicated by one of their fuck-ups, and then I could put LJ behind me as some poignantly interesting history in an otherwise very uninteresting life.

Judging by the dusty appearance of the cats, as they come inside for a bite to eat, they have gone back to lying down in the dirt alongside the house, just off the patio. The warmer weather, presumably. Blah.

And it has started to get warmer again. It's not as bad as it was before the last cooling snap, but we are obviously arching back that way.

I finally get around to checking what is our watering day. It's today. It's a bit late now. I'm thinking mostly about doing something for our trees, but the hose is not even set up, and I think we are just going to have to wait one more week.

The grass is fading fast, too. I said I was not going to care about watering the lawn, and it remains true that I am not going to care much, but I don't think I can ignore it completely.

No rain in sight. They talk about a twenty, thirty percent chance over the weekend, but I think that is mostly to keep up morale.
