Looking at the back yard: what a devastation! The storm itself was not that bad, but obviously the ground was saturated already. Vic arrives on Tuesday, next week. It looks like it is going to be a challenge to get to mow the lawn before then, though the odds should not be too bad, provided that the rain is over, which is an iffy proposition.

On a happier note, Sammy was not crying in the wee hours of the morning, but it is possible that I was just that dead asleep. Though, when my eyes popped open at a quarter after six, although I would not ordinarily have gotten up, I forced myself out of bed for an early start. I was right to do so, because it looked like Sammy was just getting ready to start his morning serenade. But we have a few more nights of this to go, and I doubt they all be happy stories.

LiveJournal keeps going up and down, or on and off as the case may be, and it is much too tiring and stressful to work with. I think I will take today off from even trying to use LJ, and we will simply try again tomorrow.

I see that my links for the texts of “1984” and Shakespeare’s plays are stored on LJ and have not been moved to Dreamwidth. I will just take another break from the regular rounds of book-blogging in favor of getting more exegetical work done on “Lolita”. No loss whatsoever.

While Pop has been cleaning and polishing and getting ready for Vic’s visit, his creative juices were trickling a bit, and he offered to clear three shelves from the bookcase in the living room for me to use, in order to give me the opportunity to clear that huge mess in the corner of my room, and I am surprised at how big a move this has proven to be.

I am making a real breakthrough in reclaiming that quarter of my room. Just three shelves. Though, I am not saying that this is all the space I need, but that it is enough to break the back of all that clutter of books and throw-ons, which would otherwise continue to lie stagnant in my room, making my room look like a pigsty.

I can even see my mini-stereo now! Which had laid buried underneath that clutter. Maybe it still works and I can use it. The speakers on the LCD TV truly suck.

Pop asks, "The book shelves look good with books, don't they?"

"I think so."

"I like that!"

He has evinced before some little fascination for books, but it will always be another world too far over the horizon for him. In that, I can feel some sympathy for him. Not that I am inclined to go overboard. The man has led a full life and has enjoyed a full manhood. Which is something I will ever know.
