"Now that Vic is gone, we seem to have gone a bit lax in the housekeeping department."

In truth, we went lax with his arrival. Most of the pressure is with his coming. But, sure, after he leaves there is bound to be a let-up, a kind of vacation after the work. Sue me!

"It's just that I've noticed that the toilet is especially getting a bit rough."

Ah, yes, so it is. That has more to do with the fact that my library season is over. Those trips were a solid prompt to get me to go to work on the bathroom, knowing Pop would be doing a white-glove inspection while I was gone. Now that there are no more trips, I cannot conjure up another prompt that can push me to get to work. It's kind of like being on the honor system.

"And there's not a lot of push in the call for honor, I guess."

Not really. One needs something more material.

I may have to go back to obligating myself to tackle the bathroom when Pop gets the groceries. It's a little unfortunate, though, that we just got the groceries on Friday and it's another three weeks before the next grocery trip.

"Well, it's not like it's an emergency, right?"

I'm not worried.

Aside from the first episode, I did come to enjoy season five. I was not sure that it was up to the first three seasons, but I no longer cared to blog during the second half of the shows. I was interested in the stories and wanted to see how the conflicts get worked out. I'm now down to the last disk and the last few episodes, and I must say I love the way they are wrapping things up. Very tense.

All three cats together on the bed in the big room. This life does have its moments.

A one-hundred-degree day. Actually, our household reading is 98. The widget on Pop's computer says 100. And I'm thinkin, 100 or 98, what's the real difference. In fact, I think I should step out and give the elephant ears another drink...
