Chuck vs. the Goodbye
Jun. 11th, 2012 01:56 pm"I guess that's it for Chuck."
Yup. All five seasons are now stored prettily away in the closet.
"A strong close."
I agree. I am surprised they ended it that ambiguously. The show is so happy-sappy, I was sure they would end it on a clear positive note, one of complete success and a happy-ever-after ending. And I think it is fair to say that that is the ending they gave us, as they show Sarah getting some memories back, even before that closing magical kiss, but you really have to fill it in yourself. The one time the show holds back and it is with the very end and on the key point of the whole show, the Sarah and Chuck romance, go figure!
"Is that a bit of a complaint?"
Uhh, not really. I love it. Except for 90% of the fourth season, I think it is a wonderful show, and I am glad that I jumped on the bandwagon. I am surprised that I could go in for such a sugary romance story, something that I would have assumed was more for young teenage girls and weepy older women. I suppose the spy angle was enough of a fig leaf for the men to cling to for the sake of their pride, along with a super sexy Yvonne Strahovski of course.
If I have any complaint, it is with that bonus feature on the DVD, the extended version of the final episode. I loved the final episode, but I did not really need to see it twice. I thought it was going to be an extra scene, a sort of epilogue, perhaps to seal the deal on the happy ending for those of us who purchased the DVDs. But, no, its a rerun of the whole episode with the addition of only a couple of minutes, I guess. Personally, I'd be hard pressed to pick out the additional minutes, but there you go. No biggie, but it was an annoyance, and I am kind of sorry that it had to be my last experience with the show.
