the first time since summer began

For the first time since summer began, I feel the temptation to leave Sammy outside and to let the cats stay outdoors. The temperatures still climb into the mid nineties, hitting 96, 97 degrees, but the last storm seems to have taken some of the bite out of the summer. Maybe in September we will consider it more seriously, in another week or two, at which point we will also be thinking about kicking off the library season as well.

Sugar

Well, I'm glad I failed to keep away from Sugar's twitter today. She posted a review that she did on a Tony Bennett concert, and I think she tops herself yet again. Her writing continues to soar ever higher. She really does seem to be the real thing and may become a big name, a name that outstrips Winnipeg journalism. Novels, essays, a little poetry, she probably could do it if she can get focused on that track. Not that she needs to. She could finish her long life publishing articles for her paper and maintain a strong middle-class lifestyle and not have anything to complain about, just going on as she is doing now. But I don't think it is her limit.
