multi-vitamin pills
Sep. 15th, 2012 09:43 amI recently read an article about how multi-vitamin pills are really too much for us and are even positively unhealthy, and I was moved by it and reconsidered my own usage. However, it still feels natural to me to reach for the Centrum bottle after I have a sweet breakfast of cake and coke. Considering how poor my diet is overall, I suspect that I could take it more regularly than this, but I am not.
Incidentally, my sweet breakfasts have been limited lately to only once a week. It helps that I often don't have breakfast at all thanks to my morning walks, after which I snack on cashew peanuts and an apple to hold my appetite until lunch.
I like to think that this new routine is an improvement over my old way of life, but it is probably a very close call. I know I should be doing much more than this, but I am feeling alright about it. I don't suppose it is realistic to hope for big changes. We work with what we have, though it has to be dispiriting to know that it is not even possible for it to take us anywhere that we would like to go. As a practical matter, I'm just stimulating brain cells, dropping a significant load of the sweet stuff, and hoping to lose another ten pounds and get back under 200. Besides, it is not like there is a way that one can shed ten or twenty years. At this late date, one has to be modest in our aspirations.
