monk111: (Effulgent Days)
A bit wintry this morning. We expected the temperatures to drop dramatically overnight, and we were not disappointed. I did not feel compelled to don sweatpants this morning, nor to break out the sweatjacket, but I did dread to turn on the ceiling fan in the big room.

monk111: (Cats)
This nip of chill seems to rejuvenate the cats, the way they gambol and wrestle and run. We have seen this before, and with other cats, and I hope I never forget the sights, the joy of it.

The rising toll — 7 dead, 57 ill and thousands potentially exposed — has cast a harsh light on the loose regulations that legal experts say allowed a company to sell 17,676 vials of an unsafe drug to pain clinics in 23 states.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it? I won't bother with the details. Even when you have liberal Democrats in power, this still happens, and Republicans continue to cry out about over-regulation. It's an old story. Our government and industry will respond to this particular travesty, when it is way too late, but there will be new fresh nightmares born of conscienceless corporations and negligent governments. One only wonders if it is getting worse.

I changed into sweatpants. We are well on our way into noon and it isn't warming up.

Pop just beats my time to the kitchen, turning on the kitchen TV at eleven-thirty-five. Ordinarily, I have been going in at eleven-forty or elevn-forty-five. I actually wasn't about to start my lunch anyway, and the advantage of having him starting this early is that he should be out of the way by not much after twelve, which is still a good time for me to start, though I will have to wade through his mess and do my business while he is eating at the table and watching his TV shows.
monk111: (Bonobo Thinking)
It had been a long time since I went spinning around on my feet, pretending I'm Elvis and wowing them at Douglas High.

If I start getting knee or feet problems, I will now know why, because I also haven't had any of those in about as long a time.

I had just stepped in the shower, and before actually getting under the spray of water, I decided to take another look in the mirror, and I saw that my hair did indeed look greasy, and then I realized that you don't as readily feel dirty and greasy when it is wintry cold.
