monk111: (Effulgent Days)
All three cats are dozing nicely on the patio, and it feels like we are back to life as usual, something easygoing and peaceful. It helps to still have the house to myself. Pop and Kay should be back this afternoon. I still expect to be able to clean my toilet before they return. I am going to have to hold off on the shave, though.

I enjoyed my GTA time last night. I played until 12:30, after midnight, for a little over three hours. I did get in my evening chores in that time, pausing the game, but that is still a lot of quality game time. And I didn't even go to the strip club once. I think I am going to get my money's worth.

Besides living with Cass, Nina is also rooming with an artist, a true painter. His name is the playfully sounding Billy b, with a little ‘b’, and I don’t think we ever learn what that ‘b’ stands for. He is into the themes of American kitsch, such as playing around with the iconography of Elvis. He is a rich boy who opts for the hippie-ish environs of the bohemian artist. A handsome young man, too. Nina is impressed. This excerpt is from a date. They are at an art opening. Nina had never been to one before.

Billy b introduced me around, said, “This is Nina Zero. Maybe you’ve heard about her. A photographer. Explosive new work.”

When I got him alone a minute, I asked, “Why are you saying that when nobody knows me and you’ve never seen anything I’ve done?”

“You want to be successful, don’t you?”

I wasn’t sure I did but said, “Sure.”

“I’m creating a buzz about you. Talent may be one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration, but success is one hundred percent promotion.”

Pop and Kay are back before two. I was hoping for five-ish, but this isn't bad. It was a nice day and a half, and I also got a good night's sleep.
