Pop left this morning for an appointment, and it is off to my room with the laptop. The Japanese really know how to do porn, and busses and trains are now my favorite porn sets. But I really need to stay off my dick. It burns when I take a shower.

I’m glad I didn’t let the cats out. I was feeling sorry for them and was thinking about taking my chances with the forecast for a 30% chance of showers. It is actually raining pretty good now. We can call it a shower, but it is a good, strong shower.

Wow, it has been a lot of years since I have gotten anything in the mail from my student-loan creditors, maybe about ten years. I pretty much forgot about them. But I am being reminded of them today. The total owed is $78,992.74. Since I still don’t have any money, I am just going to throw it away. I am not terribly disturbed by this notice, but I do wonder if they will not be ignored this time. The government is more hard up for money, and leave it to 'Yes, we can!' Obama to crack down.

Putin is getting set to carve himself off a piece of Ukraine. He is holding a referendum in Crimea, giving the people there the golden opportunity of joining Russia. The West is protesting, but it is much like the cries of women and children, and no doubt only serves to sweeten the taste of this annexation.

The main reason for this journal entry is that I have come across a fascinating quotation from one of Putin's favorite polemicists. One sees that the dream of a unified Europe lives on.

“All the important is yet to come. We do not expect a quick victory. Everything is to be paid for. Now we are witnesses of a birth of a new political reality, that is why everything acquires a special significance. This is not a technical enterprise, not a bargain. This is history itself. The struggle for Ukraine – is a struggle for reunification of Slavic peoples. Today it is clear that this reunion should be geographically different. Galicia and a number pro-western areas, and as well a large part of Kiev do not strive to Unity. We understand that. We won’t drag anyone by force. But we will not leave nor betray ours. However, for everything you have to fight and struggle to create a new political and historical reality …

If we win, we will begin the expansion of liberational (from Americans) ideology into Europe. It is the goal of full Eurasianism – Europe from Lisbon to Vladivostok. Great Eurasian Continental Empire. And we will build it. This means European Revolution will be Eurasian Revolution. This is our last horizon.”

Since I supposedly have this appetite for more challenging texts, such as Leopardi’s “Zibaldone” and Knausgaard’s “Struggle”, I am bringing the Pentateuch back into my daily reading rotation. Let’s see how real this appetite is.
