monk111: (Effulgent Days)
We were supposed to get mad rain last night. It never fell. The promised cool front, on the other hand, did blow into town. The temperature is not expected to reach the eighties today. The cats do not know it yet, but they are about to get a new lease on freedom to enjoy both the days and the nights outside, so long as it does not rain. They are inside now because there is a good chance of rain this afternoon, but they are so close to their idea of cat heaven.

Pop pops his head into the big room. He has such a huge smile, as he talks about the cool weather. I don’t know if he had sex last night; it could just be thought of the falling off of the electricity bill without the air-conditioner. Maybe he is awed by the change in weather. He looks like a little boy who got what he wanted for Christmas.

And the cats are off. We didn't even get any of that forecasted afternoon rain, save perhaps a few minute's sprinkling. I don't know about the city and our aquifer, but we didn't need the rain anyway.
