Little Ratso
Sep. 15th, 2014 09:44 amI thought I had shaken off Little Ratso, or that maybe it had come to a tragic end in someone else’s yard. However, last night, I think I was blessed with a terrific view of the little beasty just getting ready to attack the plate. I was in the kitchen looking out at the patio, and then from right off the side it came onto the patio, looking at the plate, with its back toward me, and it looking pretty happy, standing on its hind legs, all eager. I ruined its little party, though, running out in full volume, as it scampers reluctantly away.
I was stunned. It looked like no other animal I had ever seen. It was not like Ratso, but it still looked too big to be a an actual rat. My first thought was that it looked like a cross between a rat and a dog, perhaps a chihuahua, albeit still fairly small, but maybe nine inches in height on its hind legs. This morning, thinking about it, I considered that it might be a meerkat, but the ears are not right for that, as this thing does have perfect mickey-mouse ears.
Whatever it is, life is not going to be as free and wonderful for the cats as I hoped. I cannot keep the plate of food out there overnight now. I will bring the plate out at four in the morning, or a little later, as Little Ratso seems to have other plans at that time in the morning, so at least they won’t be starving all night. It should make night life more manageable.
