Sammy

Petting Sammy when he comes inside, I notice a roughness on his ear, like clotted dirt. I try to scrape it off, which he doesn't like at all. A little later, he jumps up on the table as I'm refreshing the water dish, and I decide to take a closer look at that ear under the kitchen light, and I see it's not clotted dirt. It looks like a scratch wound. My first thought is that it may be related to that little dent on the crown of his head that we noted a couple of weeks ago or so, except that this looks fresher, but this may be my fault for the little scraping I did. Male cats: you have to worry about them more, I think.

Opening the windows in the big room, I accidently tip over one of Pop's elephants, knocking it to the floor, and a leg breaks off.

I'm not shaking in my skin, but I am a little worried about how Pop will take it.

Pop-Tarts

Pop forgot to get Pop-Tarts, and I only have one package left. Feeling determined to have a sweet breakfast, I opt for the soft & chewy cookies.

I may need to cram a couple of extra items on the list to better my odds at getting what I need.

my parents

Pop did make an issue out of the broken elephant. It wasn't a bad storm, but neither was it a "Oh, it's nothing!" either.

He even talks about how it's expensive. Later, when I pointed out that the grey elephant I bought a long time ago was probably more expensive and cost only about ten dollars, he says that his cost twelve dollars.

He even asks if I was careless. I somehow failed to point out that, having to open and close the window hundreds of times a year, having to go through the items on that stand, this is bound to happen. I was just so annoyed and flummoxed. He can just be such an ass. To think that my parents were my primary educators in my childhood: it's enough to make me cry.

Came across some pretty twisted Tumblrs of submissive and wonderfully abused chicks, or so they present themselves. Needless to say, much of my morning, as far as my reading and writing are concerned, was shot.

We're a notch higher up on the thermometer at 87 degrees. It just barely smacks of discomfort, but even though Pop is gone, putting on the a/c doesn't feel smart. I'll try to tough it out, but I may break if we see 88, and we probably will in the next hour or so.

Picking up the mail, I see Pop has gotten back to getting "Consumers Reports" magazine. So, he must be feeling pretty good about the money, though he was probably swayed by a 'great bargain', as if periodicals aren't always offering you a 50% "discount". Whatever.

Poor babies! I had been ignoring my cats' dinner. I came across an impossible Tumblr.
